1. What we collect
To run the service we collect a small amount of information about you and the watches you set up:
- Email address, used for sign-in and notifications.
- Optional phone number, reserved for future SMS notifications.
- Watch configurations, the dates and stay types you've chosen to monitor.
- Payment metadata from Stripe (session IDs and amounts). We never store your card details.
- Activity logs, watch checks, notification deliveries, and sign-in events.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to operate Quokka Watch, send notifications, manage your purchases and active watches, secure your account, provide support, and for marketing and advertising purposes.
We do not sell your data. You can opt out of marketing at any time by contacting hello@quokkawatch.com.
3. Payments and third-party providers
Payments are handled by Stripe. Card details are entered directly on Stripe and are never stored by us. We share the minimum necessary data with a small number of service providers:
- Stripe, payment processing.
- Our cloud infrastructure provider, hosting and database.
- Our email delivery provider, sending notifications.
- Advertising platforms, for marketing and advertising purposes.
These providers act under their own privacy policies. We may also disclose information if required by law.
5. Marketing attribution
So we can understand which channels and campaigns lead people to Quokka Watch, we record a small amount of marketing-source information when you visit the site:
- UTM parameters in the page URL (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign, utm_content, utm_term).
- Google and Facebook click identifiers when present (gclid, fbclid).
- The hostname of the website that referred you (for example facebook.com or google.com) — we do not store the full referring URL.
- The landing page path on our own site (for example /stays).
- The date and time of the visit.
This information is first stored locally in your browser. When you sign in or create an account, it is attached to your account so we can attribute your registration and any purchase to a marketing source. We do not capture form input, page content, IP addresses, or your browsing on other sites.
If you sign out, or if a different account signs in on the same browser, the locally stored attribution is cleared so it cannot be associated with the wrong account.
6. Data retention
Account and monitoring data is retained only as long as reasonably necessary to operate the service or to meet legal, compliance, or support obligations.
After you delete your account, limited records (such as payment receipts and audit logs) may be retained for a short period where required.
7. Storage and security
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, however no online service can guarantee absolute security.
Data is stored on managed cloud infrastructure with row-level access controls so users can only access their own data. Infrastructure may be located in Australia or in other jurisdictions used by our service providers.
8. Your rights
You can request a copy of, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. Account deletion is available from your dashboard under Danger zone.

9. Independence from Rottnest Island Authority
Quokka Watch is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Rottnest Island Authority. We do not share your data with RIA.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the service after changes are published constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
